In observance of Statehood Day, our office will be closed on Friday, August 16, 2019. We will be open on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 7:30am.

Erick and Flossie head towards the State of Hawaii

Due to the weather systems headed our way, we will be postponing our Open Enrollment Member meeting. While hurricane Erick will impact the islands from Thursday and through the weekend, Flossie is forecast to impact the Big Island early Monday morning.

We have rescheduled our Member meeting for the following:

Modified Office Hours

With Merrie Monarch in full swing, we will be modifying our office hours for the rest of this week (through 4/26/2019). We will continue to open at 7:30am but will be closing at 3:00pm. Our email and fax machine will be up and running during this time. If you do venture to our office, please note that traffic on Kalanikoa street will be flowing makai between Piilani and Kuawa Streets.

Hawaii Life Flight Membership Discount

We are pleased and excited to announce that we have partnered with Hawaii Life Flight, a division of the AirMedCare Network to offer discounted membership to our members. If you have not heard of or are unfamiliar with Hawaii Life Flight, they are one of the providers of emergency air medical transportation. If you have a medical emergency and you need to get to another island for services, Hawaii Life Flight will fly out there in one of their specially equipped aircraft.

While your health insurance may cover a significant portion of the cost of using this service, you would be responsible for your copay. Having a membership to Hawaii Life Flight drastically reduces the amount of your copayment. An annual membership for a family costs $85, however, this the discount for KIAA members, the annual membership is $65. Other membership options are available, as well as payment options. A copy of the membership application will be included with this months health plan invoice and also available online in our secure Member section on our website.

2019 KIAA Scholarships

KIAA is now accepting applications for the Larry Kono Scholarship and Margaret Pahio scholarship. Applicants for both scholarships should be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution and demonstrate a desire to work on the Big Island of Hawaii after receiving their education. Detailed requirements for both scholarships can be found on the applications.
